Healthy Spa Meditation Practices

When it comes to taking time for yourself and relieving stress, it can be hard to find the right practice. One of the best ways to relax and unwind after a long day is to take a dip in a spa or hot tub. Not only is this a great way to relax and soothe sore muscles, but it can also be an incredibly effective form of meditation. Water has long been known to be a powerful tool for meditation, and a spa or hot tub fits right in.

Explore the benefits of mindful meditation by adding warm water to help relax your muscles and the sound of the bubbles can help drown out distractions. When meditating in a tub, it is important to really focus on yourself. Breathing slowly and deeply can help clear your mind. Some people find it helpful to focus on one word or phrase and repeat it silently. We also recommend adding a fragrance or bath bomb to your spa water for an added effect called aromatherapy.

Spa Meditation Practice - Try it Out!

To begin your hot tub meditation, start by finding an ideal spot in the in the spa. Make sure to sit up straight in the water, with your back and neck supported by the edge of the tub. Close your eyes and take a few deep breaths. Focus your attention on your breathing and let your thoughts drift away with the steam.

Now, start to focus on your physical body and the sensations you are feeling in the hot spa water. Notice how the warmth soothes your body and how comforting and calming it feels toward you. As your body relaxes, allow your mind to do the same.

As you settle into a state of mind, begin to pay attention to the surrounding sounds. These could include the sound of the water, the humming sound of the jets, and or the sound of your own breath. Let these sounds wash over you and become part of your meditation for a full circle experience.
