However, as with any other appliance that has sitting water in it, it's essential that you continually keep the hot tub clean. This is vital to both the aesthetic appeal of the tub and also to your health. If you haven't been using your hot tub for quite some time or if you have just purchased a home that has an unused hot tub, it's a good idea to thoroughly clean the tub with good quality hot tub chemicals. Check to see if it needs anything replaced, such as a Hot Spring heaters, Hot Spring filters or other Hot Spring spa parts.

The first thing you want to do is gather up a good quantity of hot tub spa supplies. Your next step would be to empty out the tub. You want to be able to clean the sides and jets of the tub and this cannot be done when it is full of water. It's also a good idea to start off with clean water if the tub has been sitting outside for a while. Use the hot tub chemicals to thoroughly coat the sides and jets of the tub. These particular chemicals were designed to remove hard water stains and lime build-up. The chemicals will also get rid of any residual bacteria on the hot tub jets and seats. Always read the manufacturer's label on the back of the hot tub chemical packaging in order to ensure you are using them properly.

Once you have thoroughly cleaned it out with hot tub spa supplies, you will want to refill the tub with water. Once it is filled, you should again use hot tub chemicals to treat the water that is in the tub. This step is vital to keeping the tub clean and the water fresh. Because you want to be able to relax in your hot tub, you should always take those extra steps in order to keep it clean and in pristine condition for each time you decide to use it.

Very good advice. Always follow the directions on the label of the bottle of chemicals you are using.
Be sure to shower and get clean before you use the hot tub. Remember this is a THERAPY vessel not a bathtub. Be squeaky clean before you get in and your chemical usage and general maintenance will be so much easier. If you see brown haze in the tub after a couple of uses you will know that someone is not getting clean before they get into the tub.
