Hot tubs don't have to be hot. In the summertime, they can actually be used to help you cool off. Many spas have a special setting for "cool mode" that allow the tub to run at lower temperatures. The water is comfortable and will help you cool down on hot summer evenings in the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut areas.
While hot tubs under normal conditions should be set to 104 degrees F for ideal enjoyment, try turning it down for a refreshing change. A setting of 85 degree F or cooler will allow the water to drop to a relaxing temperature. Wait until late afternoon or early evening to change the settings, take off the lid and allow the jets to run for a few minutes before testing the waters. The enjoyable temperatures should last for about 36 hours. There will be some natural evaporation of both water and heat, keeping hot tubs in NJ, NY and CT the perfect venue for a summer dip. No need to go to the pool, just use the one in your yard.
Your chemicals and hot tub filters will continue to work in the cooler temperatures, creating a clean and clear environment for relaxation and fun. When the outdoors heat up during the daytime, simply put the lid back on to prevent too much water evaporation. This will also keep the water at a nice, cool temperature.
While hot hot tubs are relaxing and do a great job of soothing sore muscles, a nice change of pace is to cool things down on a hot, steamy summer evening. Invite some friends over or spend some quiet time in solitude with the newfound freedom of hot - or cool - tubbing in the summertime. Make your spa something to enjoy year round.
